“Personally, I love music. I love coffee and mocktails, dance and art, and so many of my peers do too, but in private school it’s hard to find good times to showcase your work, hobbies, talents or passions in an easy and comfortable way. “ ~ Beatrice Zelizer
Here, at Brightmont Academy, all of our students and staff are invested in their own hobbies and I wanted a way to get to know all about them. Like public school, more Brightmont courses than I can count require multiple presentation assignments, projects or experiments that deserve an audience our school model doesn’t exactly provide; with no music studio, sports, or extracurriculars, unlike public school, I realized our actual ways to showcase these projects, presentations and modes of self expression at Brightmont is quite limited.
So, with the help of the creative minds and incredible staff that attend Brightmont, The Center Stage was born. Center Stage is a once a month open-mic event that takes place after school at Brightmont Academy.
To accompany the talented acts we will also have signature mocktails, taught and served to all attendees. The goal of our signature drinks is to not only provide delicious beverages and experiences, but also have a way for students and teachers to engage in a quiet but intricate activity that can keep everyone occupied and still respectful of our performers.
So, what is Center Stage? In short, the Center Stage Brightmont open-mic, is a community event that provides a stage to students and teachers alike, along with an audience ready to listen.
