Open-mic night is important to all of us! Keep it a positive space

Here are our main guidelines for Center Stage as a guest:

  • Be respectful of: our performers, the Brightmont space, our volunteers, and other guests

  • Noise control: Please do not have any loud activities or conversations whilst any of our performers are on stage.

  • Permission: if you are under the age of 16 you must have a signed parental permission slip to attend and perform Brightmont’s Center Stage open-mic night

  • Stay in the building: unlike regular school hours where you can leave campus, it is asked that you please stay on the premisses for the entirety of open-mic night unless you are arriving/departing.

  • No outside food or drink!: snacks will be provided as well as drinks, so please do not bring any outside food or drinks (if you have an allergy please email us so we can accomodate you, our snacks are for everyone!)

  • This is still a school space: You must be age appropriate! this goes for what you say, and how you act. All the rules that apply to us during the school day apply during open-mic night.

  • One drink per option per person: you can have up to 3 drinks at a given open-mic night, one of each signature mocktail, but to make sure there is enough for everyone we ask that you only have one of each (any dietary exceptions or concerns please contact us)

For our performers:

  • Arrive on time for your performance: you are expected to arrive on campus at least 15 minutes before your performance. There will be a five minute grace period for those on campus before we push your act to the back of the set.

  • Your act must be age appropriate!: just like our guests you too must adhere to content restrictions. things your performance should not include or reference is listed but not limited to the following:

    1) Curse words

    2) Innuendos

    3) Violence or other kinds of graphic content

    4) Nudity in any form (including art, music videos, lyrics, etc.)

    5) Political commentary

    6) Slandering of any kind

    7) All illegal substances

  • Encourage your fellow performers: Center Stage is anything but a competition and all performers should uplift and encourage each other throughout the night

  • Treat people how you want to be treated: pay attention during other people’s acts, once your performance is done you are expected to follow the same rules and guidelines as all other guests.

  • Only submit one application per Open-mic night: you will only be given one slot to perform one act per open-mic night, spamming the application inbox will result in the pulling of your application

Failure to adhere to these rules and guidelines will lead to immediate consequential action that may include: warning, suspension from open-mic nights, a letter home, or removal from the event itself

NOTE: No attendant of open-mic night is above the rules listed here.
